Malaysian pilot James Anthony Tan aiming to be the youngest to fly solo around the world - Nation | The Star Online: "PILOT James Anthony Tan is aiming to set a world record of being the youngest pilot to fly 14,000 nautical miles solo around the world in 50 days.
Tan, who will be 22 in June, is planning to fly to 20 countries, with 30 pit stops.
Berita Harian reported that Tan would start his journey on the Cessna P210, a single piston aircraft, on March 23 at Subang Skypark.
The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Tan said that he wanted to be a pilot since he was five years old, after he saw a jet fighter flying 90 degrees while he was on a Boeing 747 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Britain.
He has completed several flying courses.
Tan believed that the only way to gain experience was by travelling around the world.
“I want this expedition to inspire Malaysian youths to be brave to dream big,” he said."
